Adult USCIS Medical Exams
Adults who need to complete a USCIS-mandated immigration medical exam need to complete the following tests:
- A standard physical exam
- Tuberculosis (TB) skin test
- Syphilis test (blood test)
Adults aged 15 and over are also required to either provide proof of having had certain immunizations, or have booster shots as required by the USCIS.
Immigration Medical Exams for Children
According to USCIS requirements, children aged 14 and under must complete a physical exam, TB skin test, and review of all standard pediatric immunizations. In most cases, children are exempt from blood testing under USCIS requirements.
For both children and adults, USCIS requires a tuberculosis (TB) testing as part of all immigration medical exams.
A staff person injects a tiny amount of TB protein under the skin on the forearm during the patient’s first visit. The patient returns to the clinic within 48-72 hours to have the skin checked for a reaction. If the TB skin test is positive, patients must have further testing with a chest x-ray (available for an additional fee).
Please note, we do not have TB skin tests available on Thursdays.
The USCIS requires proof of certain immunizations based on the age of the patient, which may include:
- Varicella vaccine
- Measles, mumps & rubella (MMR) vaccine
- Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis vaccine
- Meningococcal (MCV4)
- Rotavirus vaccine
- Polio vaccine
- Haemophilus influenzae Type B vaccine
- Hepatitis A & B vaccine
- Pneumococcal vaccine
- Flu vaccine (during flu season – Oct.1 -Mar.31)
